for barre at home

What should I wear to do barre at home?
Wear comfortable clothing that you can move in – something you’d wear for pilates or yoga.
​Non-slip grippy socks are suggested. Barefoot is ok too.
 

What do I need?

The Movitae App and a phone, laptop or computer to watch your Barre Bite (online class)

A "barre" this can be a sturdy chair or kitchen bench. Be creative... you can even try a cabinet or piano. Elbow height for your "barre" is best.

Grippy barre socks, especially if you are working on a slippery wooden or tile floor.

​

You also need two hand weights (1 or 2kg) or canned goods

 

A towel or yoga mat


Water bottle


It’s my first class online. What do I need to do?
If it's your first time, please take the moves carefully and take any modifications you need to make. As your instructor is not with you to offer corrections, please listen to your body. If it hurts, don't do it.
 
Health and safety
Please ensure your "barre" is sturdy; this can be a chair or kitchen bench.

Also check your floorspace is clear and dry.


What to expect in a Barre Bite
Barre Bites are about 25 minutes long.

Each Bite has a warmup and some stretches.

Choreography and exercises sequences will vary each Bite to keep you motivated.


What if I'm worried about my fitness level/lack of experience?
Barre is a low-impact workout and as long as you can hold on to your barre,
you can do barre along with us. No dancing experience is required.
